Understanding team dynamics to unlock potential
What is Facet5 TeamScape?
The Model
The TeamScape model helps to create a picture of how individuals naturally prefer to organise their work and participate in the team.
Each TeamScape profile contains:
- The fundamental approach of team members in solving problems as they arise
- How they appear to other people, their natural strengths and risk areas
- An individual and team comparison on their approach to the TeamScape Workcycle Model
- How similar or different their working preferences are
TeamScape Workcycle Model
The TeamScape Workcycle model describes and compares how individuals manage the work of the team and solve problems – as and when they arise.
The elements of the TeamScape Workcycle model are:
Generating ideas:
Does the team look at problems from all angles (Possibilities) or are they pragmatic and keen to get to the point (Practicalities)?
Evaluation:
Do they logically move from one issue to the next, evaluating alternatives (Evolution) or encourage radical ideas and strategies (Revolution)?
Decision making:
Does the team decide quickly, willing to defend a position with conviction (Deciding) or do they prefer to listen before forming an opinion, basing decisions on careful review of the data (Reflecting)?
Implementation:
Are the team involved and active, learning through trial and error (Doing) or considered and careful, thinking things through before committing (Understanding)?
The Teamscape model also helps teams understand how they reach agreement and resolve disputes, in particular their;
- Natural or preferred approach
- The extent to which the team apply rules and processes
- How they may respond to the intensity and stress involved in disputes
TeamScape supports individuals to build understanding, not only of themselves, but of the preferences of others. It is this understanding that underpins better relationships within the team, increased collaboration and communication.
How it works
Step 1 – Individuals complete a Facet5 Questionnaire
Individual team members complete a Facet5 personality questionnaire. The questionnaire consists of 106 questions and takes approximately 20 minutes to complete. It’s available in 33 languages. The responses are then compared to a group of ‘like’ people (commonly called a norm group). A sten score is calculated for each factor and sub-factor. It is these scores which are presented in a Facet5 profile and TeamScape.
Step 2 – Facet5 profiles are combined to produce a TeamScape report.
Each Facet5 profile is combined to provide a range of easy to interpret data sets. TeamScapes visual approach shows the diversity within the group and the interplay between the Facet5 Factors quickly and easily.
Step 3 – TeamScape Facilitation
Deeper understanding comes from a TeamScape workshop which provides an opportunity for the team to review and explore their profiles. The workshop helps team members understand how they contribute, the preferences of others and the impact this has on the team and its work.
