Conflict Management Coaching

Conflict management coaching (or conflict coaching) is a specialised, one-on-one, and confidential process that supports individuals to enhance their competence and confidence to manage interpersonal disputes effectively. It is future-focused, aiming to build skills to navigate specific, current conflicts or future disputes, rather than just resolving a past incident.

Key Aspects of Conflict Management Coaching:

  • Goal-Oriented & Individualized: The process is tailored to the client’s specific conflict management goals, assisting them to gain insight and self-reflection.
  • Voluntary & Confidential: It is a private, safe space to explore sensitive interpersonal issues.
  • Skill Building: Supports individuals understand their “hot buttons,” shift unhelpful patterns, and learn new, constructive responses to conflict.
  • Action Planning: The process often involves preparing for difficult conversations, such as by role-playing, to help the individual feel more prepared and confident.
  • One-on-One: Unlike mediation, it works with one party at a time to prepare them to manage their own conflict, although it can be used before or alongside other dispute resolution methods.
  • Diverse Application: It is used to address workplace disputes, family disagreements, and other interpersonal conflicts.
