Once is a theatrical experience that is world class in every way. This is a true ensemble piece where each ensemble member both cast and creatives seamlessly work together to create the masterpiece that is ‘Once’. The skill, talent, dedication and passion for story telling is evident in every moment of this truly sensational piece of theatre. Each ensemble member are standouts but of note is Stefanie Caccamo who is simply delightful and gives a beautiful performance that is nuanced, delicate and sophisticated in her portrayal of a beautiful character with a beautiful heart. Stefanie’s comic timing is so impressive and her performance is flawless from beginning to end.
There is also Victoria Falconer who plays ‘Reza’ who is a delightful, funny and infectiously glorious character with a big personality and a brash confidence and energy that is a joy to watch. Victoria has a presence and charisma that is so natural and she is one of the most talented actors, dancers and musicians that I have seen in a long time. What a performance she brings to the stage and it is also to note that Victoria is the productions Musical Director which of itself is a sensational accomplishment.
Dylan Robinson and Ashleigh King make up the Sound Team and I hope receive the acknowledgement they deserve for achieving a flawless musical production that had what I imagine to be multiple microphones on cast and instruments without one hiccup.
This production is yet another example of the quality of theatre that Darlinghurst Theatre produces and this show is for everyone, so grab your tickets before they sell out because this is the one you don’t want to miss out on.
